How the plus-size numbers work
Overall height
Rim diameter plus two sidewalls. A 225/60R16 is 16″ + 2 × (225 mm × 60%) = 26.6″ tall.
Stay within 3%
Every size in the table is a real tire size, made by a tire brand or fitted at the factory, and within 3% of your factory tire, best match first.
Real speed
If the dash says 60 mph, this is what you are really doing on that tire.

Plus sizing means fitting a bigger wheel with a lower-profile tire. The goal is to keep the overall height of the wheel and tire about the same as the factory tire. As a result, the car keeps the same ride height, gearing and speedometer reading. Check your factory tire size with NHTSA’s tire guidance.
Why keep the tire within 3% of the factory height?
A taller or shorter tire changes how far the car travels per turn of the wheel. Within about 3%, the speedometer, ABS and transmission still read close to right. The table in the guide shows the real speed when the dash says 60 mph, so you can see the difference for each tire size.
Can I go smaller, like 13 or 14 inch wire wheels?
Yes, as long as the brakes clear the smaller wheel. A smaller wheel needs a taller tire sidewall to keep the overall height, so the guide also lists smaller Player sizes when a tire stays within 3%. Call us at (330) 953-2944 to check brake clearance on your car before you order.
Which bolt patterns are Player wire wheels drilled for?
Player wire wheels come drilled for 4x100, 4x108, 4x114.3, 5x100, 5x108, 5x110, 5x112, 5x114.3, 5x115, 5x120, 5x127, 5x135, 5x139.7, 6x115, 6x120, 6x127, 6x132, 6x135, 6x139.7, depending on size and series. The guide shows which Player wheels match your car's bolt pattern when you pick its year, make and model. If your pattern is not on the list, call us and we will tell you if a wheel can be drilled for it.
