The spoke count is the first thing people notice on a wire wheel. Fewer spokes look open and old-school; more spokes turn the face into a fine, bright mesh.
Fewer spokes: 72
A 72 spoke wheel shows each spoke and more of the hub and knock-off. Player makes it cross laced with a reverse offset, in 13″ and 14″.
The all-rounder: 100
100 spokes reads as a solid, bright wheel when it rolls and still shows the lace up close. It is the widest range in the Player line, from 13″ to 20″, in reverse, standard and FWD.
High counts: 150 to 204
On bigger rims, more spokes keep the face from looking empty. Player makes 150 spokes in 20″ and 22″, 180 and 204 spokes in 24″, and 200 spokes with a floating center cap in 26″.
